We have the most beautiful sunsets God has given!Melissa and Esther out did themselves preparing for Thanksgiving at our house.The table was sooo long!Guess who is in the star on top of our Christmas tree?  Yes, that's our first grand-daughter - Adonia.  What a wonderful gift from Christ!How do the Makua interpret this?  Well looking at the potpouri they would believe we have put some powerful leaves out to protect us from the evil spirits and not be tied up in knots by them.Antonio and Daniel working on translation materials.Daniel working with Mike on Farming God's Way teachings.Agusto and Gracinda plant their first drop of corn.  They're first putting in the compost they made months ago.Then they put in ground up termite nest dirt.  It adds greatly to the soil.Here is a manioc crop.  Manioc is very hard on soil.  After 2 or 3 years of planting it in the same place, they have to move to another.  Yikes!  Introducing other crops and rotation will help tremendously.Dec_2009_10.JPGOne of their worst farming practices is to burn the land first.  Ah!  Now I have a CLEAN field!But all the life is burned up too!  There is little nutrition for the crop.They also burn large swaths of land just to drive out a few mice/rats to catch and EAT!This is a proper house for the ancestors to live in after passing on to the other world, so they believe.  Now the believers know that according to Luke 16, the ancestors are no longer here to bless or CURSE them but have gone on to judgement by God, being able neither to leave their place or attend to their prayers.  God alone lives in that exalted place in all-power.A large group gathers in Galilee for the formation of a new church.  They've dialogued through all the key stories of the Old and New Testament and now which to follow Christ.  Those holding up their hand are those that previously decided to be baptized.That night we watch 'God's Story' in Makua.  Many stay there and sleep though the night.This woman was scared stiff!  She had never before ridden in a vehicle!  In the morning we head out to the baptism, giving a ride to those with the most need, while the rest walk a couple miles to the spot.
