We first need to make bricks. Once way is to make them out of clay and then burn them at high heat. The termite nest provides a good clay. They've dug into the next and actually reached the core "hive". They'll stop here and let them rebuild. Besides they have enough clay now.Take a closer look inside their termite home. Here's a little buger trying to bite me. Ouch!!!The next day, the termites had filled in that gaping opening into their home. So, now water has to be added to the clay.A wooden form is used to make the bricks.Clay is packed into that wooden form that will make two bricks at a time.Take the excess clay is removed. The clay bricks are made smooth. Finally they're put out on the ground to dry for several days. Then they'll scrape any excess dirt off with a machette and they'll be reading to stack and bake.We figured we'd make 3000 bricks! That a great start stacking the dried bricks. Now it's all done and covered with mud to keep the heat in.We have to keep the fire going all day, all night, and the rest of the next day. Do you think we'll have enough wood? These are the cashew trees we removed from the farm crop area earlier this year.Boy, it's hot!!! in there.Continual stoking of the fire will bake the bricks well.About 15 feet down we hit water. We went another 4 feet and then hit a hard clay and gravel layer. We can stop here and have all the water we want.
