We started off the month with some time in Malawi for rest, dentist appointments, getting malaria medicine and other things we can't get in Moz.

Many men havest wood on the mountain top and take the long trek down to sell the wood.

On one trip to the bush they show us a green delicacy they pick and cook.

And if you really want to spice it up, tear the wings off locusts and add them to the meal!

Ahh! It's actually pretty comfortable. Of course, I'd want some protection from the mosquitoes!

My friend, Moniz, woke up at midnight to see this spitting cobra slither past his bed.

Water flows everywhere! Thankfully we've added some small barriers to keep the rain from swamping our yard.

As we travel out to the bush, we wonder how the rain has affected their well digging projects.

One church had quickly built a shelter over their 18 foot deep well so that the sides would not cave in. They'll continue when it gets dryer next year.
Moz_2008_Dec_IMG_0963.jpg
This is an example of what the church will do next year to make and burn bricks for the exterior wall of their well. The rains stalled their current efforts. They are very grateful for all the tools and help received that they will also be able to bless others with next year!

Another church had finished digging the well and formed bricks when the early storm surprised them. Their well caved in. They're using water from other sources. This gave us a good chance to talk about sanitation and protection of these sources with a very unsanitary one.

Are you ready for the party!? Elijah and Esther had some fun with other mk's.
Moz_2008_Dec_IMG_0977.jpg
Esther LOVES playing the piano! We praise God we were able to ship this keyboard in our container!
Moz_2008_Dec_IMG_8557.jpg
Elijah is enjoying the drum set that missionaries loaned to Elijah for 1 month while they went on vacation to Norway.
Moz_2008_Dec_IMG_1049.jpg
At the Sunday evening worship and preaching service for the English community of Nampula, Esther accompanied 'O Come, O Come Emmanuel' with the violin. Elijah accompanied all the songs with the drums for his first time.

We invited our neighbor's from "Missionary Aviation Fellowship" to decorate cookies.
Moz_2008_Dec_IMG_1070.jpg
One night, Esther spotted a beautiful 6 inch wingspan moth outside her window. Elijah and I went and caught it and then mounted it. God's creation is AMAZING!

Breeding season for this insect has begun just outside our front door! Of course they lodge inside our house as well.

We enjoyed a Christmas meal with our friends and co-workers families.
Moz_2008_Dec__MG_1136.jpg
The Makua song book has 'Come Thou Fount'. We all sang to Esther's accompanyment on the violin. The loved it!

A simple exercise was given during the last Sunday's message. Antonio translated into Makua.

Antonio's daughter came to us for further teaching. Many are without clear teaching from the Bible.
